A listings module for the destination marketing organizations

In the redesign of our listings module, we focused on three key areas based on user feedback: mapping, mobile browsing, and information accessibility.

First, we improved the mobile experience by allowing users to seamlessly switch between the listing index and the map without losing their place. We also added galleries to the listing cards themselves, enabling users to gather more information directly from the index without opening a new page.

Second, we strengthened the visual connection between listings and their locations by keeping the map open and introducing hover states that highlight the corresponding map pin when a user hovers over a listing card.

Third, through user research, we identified what information users need at each stage of their planning process. This insight led us to surface key details earlier, rather than waiting until the end of the journey.

These enhancements have resulted in increased user engagement and a rise in qualified leads for business owners.

Key Takeaways

  • Through qualitative and quantitative user research, we identified the key features users need when browsing hotel, restaurant, venue, and event listings.

  • Research showed that nearly 70% of browsing happened on mobile devices, yet most bookings took place on desktop. This insight led us to prioritize the mobile browsing experience while ensuring the booking process was even more apparent and intuitive on desktop.

  • The redesign of our listings experience led to higher user engagement and an increase in qualified leads for visitor economies across the world.
